HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) is responsible for the department’s civil and criminal investigations. FIS ensures that HMRC has an effective approach to tackling the most serious tax evasion and fraud. FIS is home to a wide range of people with a variety of skills and professional backgrounds – including accountants, cybercrime specialists, criminal justice professionals, tax professionals and operational delivery support teams to name but a few.
We use a range of powers and approaches to protect funding for UK public services, investigating the most harmful tax cheats and ensuring nobody is beyond our reach.
The support teams in the location stated above provide key operational and business support to our investigation teams. The work that our support teams do is at the heart of investigation work across FIS.

The successful candidates will have a key role to provide timely and accurate business and operational support to investigating staff and the wider FIS business. Ensure work is completed within the prescribed timescale and is done so in accordance with agreed code of governance and compliance procedures.
Overall support to the business, team and contribute to what the support teams should look like moving forward to establish a future proofed model as we move to Regional Centres change. The role being advertised is for Assistant Officers to work either within the criminal, civil or business support unit. The Assistant Officer would report to one of the O Support Managers.
Duties could include but are not exhaustive:-
Desirable Criteria
1) Experience of Business Support Work.
2) Knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
3) Full UK driving licence
Overall support to the business, team and contribute to what the support teams should look like moving forward to establish a future proofed model as we move to Regional Centres change. The role being advertised is for Assistant Officers to work either within the criminal, civil or business support unit. The Assistant Officer would report to one of the O Support Managers.

- Data inputting to bespoke HMRC systems.
- Review of Documents for Criminal or Civil Cases.
- Arranging files to storage.
- Property Storage at the office.
- Travel Bookings for senior officers.
- Appearance in Court.
